**Trigger Warning : Unpopular Opinion**
We have been to @iconoglace many times and have tried each time to review it positively since it seems to be so popular and ALWAYS full with loooong lines all day.
But we unfortunately have given up.
While still good ice cream, we consider it a sort of elevated (and more expensive) DQ : Many options with many “exciting” flavours and toppings, all types of frozen dessert… And even giving you a giant portion and calling it a small. Some would say this is a “good bang for your buck” but we disagree. More inferior product is not higher value.
What we mean by “elevated DQ” is that while they boast fresh and local ingredients and homemade ice cream it’s as though they somehow managed to make it taste and feel mass produced. Pandering to as large a clientele as possible (like DQ) in order to maximize profits. Of course, that’s the point of business (and they succeed) but when it’s this obvious it takes a little something away from the “homemade” or “artisinal” feel.
Furthermore, the amount of common allergens is unnecessarily high. There is no reason to add some type of nut to practically half the items on such a large menu.
You will find @iconoglace topping many lists of ice cream places but we do not put it in our top 5. Don’t get us wrong, it’s good. Just… Not worthy of the high ranking and praise many people give it.
