Auberge Le Saint-Gabriel

Auberge Le Saint-Gabriel

Rating: 9 out of 10.

What better way to start our Haute Cuisine Quest than with the oldest restaurant in Canada?
Yes, that’s right, it’s right here in old Montreal and it is glorious.
Granted the first ever liquor license in 1754 @aubergesaintgab is proof that good things never go out of style. One would expect a certain level of pretentiousness with such historical claims but there is, in fact, a sense of subtlety in the very relaxed, almost modest ambiance while maintaining a classic luxurious aura.
Each of the dishes we ordered were better than the last, not a single miss in anything we consumed. Expertly prepared in every sense and served with a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable manner. There are rooms for larger parties, very comfortable booths for more intimate gatherings. Perfect for a Christmas reunion among good friend.
