Cinnamour

Cinnamour

Rating: 7 out of 9.

With the rise of the cinnamon bun craze sweeping through Montréal, we couldn’t resist trying the freshly opened @cinnamourmontreal, tucked inside @gauffresetglaces in Laval. The promise? Cinnamon buns in many flavours — a tempting sight for anyone with a sweet tooth.

These aren’t your ultra-fancy, bakery-showcase type of buns. Instead, they lean toward the comforting, nostalgic kind — the kind you might find at a local fair rather than a patisserie. The flavour lineup feels more reminiscent of donuts dressed up as cinnamon buns, which is… intriguing.

Now, whether that’s a good thing is still up for debate. On one hand, the “vessel” itself — the bun — actually has flavour, unlike your average donut. On the other hand, the sweetness level is off the charts. It’s the kind of sugar rush that could power a playground, which makes these buns perfect for a kids’ party, but perhaps a bit much for the grown-up palate.

Then there’s the packaging situation. We ordered a box of six — only to discover that six buns don’t actually fit in the box. They had to be semi-stacked, turning our sweet haul into a sticky, frosting-smeared mess. And considering these buns are already on the messy side to begin with, it didn’t help their case.

All in all, Cinnamour is fun, playful, and undeniably indulgent. The flavours are creative, but the execution? A bit chaotic — much like the sugar high that follows.

Verdict: Come for the fun flavours, stay if you don’t mind a little (or a lot of) sticky sweetness.
