The international burger chain @waybackburgers has entered the already competitive Montreal burger scene with its first franchise located in the West Island: @waybackburgersquebec, which opened approximately two weeks ago.
Naturally, when a new burger place opens nearby, we try it as soon as possible.
We ordered a variety of items to sample as much as possible.
Each burger we tried was very large (you definitely need two hands to eat it) and satisfying, although slightly dry and lacking in sauce. The burgers were served with less than adequate sides, including some truly disappointing generic, grocery-store-quality mac and cheese bites.
We did very much enjoy the chili cheese hot dog—so much that we would return specifically for that. Unfortunately, for a place with “burger” in its name, the hot dog was the best part of the meal.
Overall, as a fast food establishment, it offers better quality than traditional places but lacks the quality of our favorite burger joints. However, it is a good option if you are nowhere near those places.
