Patinoire Sous-L’anneau

Patinoire Sous-L’anneau

Rating: 6 out of 10.

We went skating at La Patinoire sous l’anneau at @placevillemarie this week.

First, the good news: the view is fantastic. You get a great look at downtown and Mount Royal while you glide around the rink. And if you already have your own skates, it’s free. Plus, you’re surrounded by restaurants and cafés, so you can immediately reward yourself with a coffee or a meal.

About the skating itself: The rink is… cozy. And by cozy, I mean small enough that after a few laps you’ll start recognizing everyone else on the ice like you’re all in a mildly slippery support group. The ice quality was also a bit rough—less “Olympic training facility” and more “crunchy frozen parking lot chic.” It definitely keeps you alert. I’ve been on skates since I was 4, and they need to maintain that better.

We don’t know if the little bar inside the tent is active because there was a list of drinks, but no one was serving anything when we went.

Were not sure why they waited to open 3 weeks before the end of winter… But :

🗓️ If you want to check it out, it’s open until the end of March:
Monday–Friday: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM
Saturday: 12 PM – 10 PM
Sunday: 12 PM – 5 PM

It’s a fun little winter stop if you’re already downtown and feel like squeezing in a quick skate before winter ends.
