This restaurant evaded our notice, but we’re glad to have been invited to @restomona. A Mexican restaurant stages a fiesta on your table.
The first thing that strikes you is the very vast menu. And by vast, I mean delightfully overwhelming. You’ll find authentic Mexican classics sitting comfortably beside burgers, hot dogs, and even poutine. It’s like Mexico threw a party and invited comfort food from around the world. Decision paralysis has never been so delicious.
🌮 We started with the Tacos Birria, which deserve their own spotlight. These beauties arrive glistening; the tortillas are crisped and stained a deep, dramatic brown from their rich consommé bath. Slow-braised, fall-apart tender beef, infused with warm spices that linger just long enough to make you immediately go back for more. Messy? Absolutely. Worth it? Entirely.
🍹And then, the Michelada. One of the best we’ve had, hands down. HUGE. Perfectly balanced—savory spice, a gentle heat, and that refreshing effervescence tying it all together.
The cocktails in general are wonderful—vibrant, fresh, and dangerously easy to sip.
🍰 If you somehow manage to save room, the churros provide a sweet, cinnamon-kissed finale that feels like a warm hug with a crunch.
The portions are very generous. Despite the restaurant’s cozy size, the food arrives as if it’s catering a small celebration. We highly recommend going with a group—not only to sample the impressively broad selection of entrées, but also because sharing is practically essential unless you plan to waddle home (which we did).
The atmosphere is lively, filled with upbeat music and an infectious energy that makes you want to linger. It’s intimate in space but expansive in spirit.
@restomona is a cheerful, flavor-packed gathering that reminds you food is best enjoyed generously, joyfully, and ideally with friends who don’t mind fighting you for the last birria 🌮.
